An undergraduate degree
As guidance, you should have a 2.1 ( 3.5 GPA) or its equivalent. If you were not awarded a minimum of 2.1 you may still be considered provided you have a very strong employment record demonstrating a high degree of responsibility.

As evidence, you will be asked to upload all your University degree academic transcripts/mark-sheets to the online application form. These must outline the subjects studied or grades obtained from each academic year. If your original transcripts are not in English you must also supply an official translation. If you are invited to attend an interview after submitting your application we will ask you to bring or send us original copies of your transcripts.
You should have at least two years of previous full-time work experience.
Our current class has on average six years full time work experience. We do not look for experience in an specific sector, our students come from a variety of backgrounds, from engineering and finance to academia, armed forces and non-profit. We look for evidence of career progression and international exposure. You should be able to work as part of a team, as well as be able to show leadership potential.
GMAT or GRE score
We look for a high level of quantitative and analytical skills evidenced in the GMAT/GRE results.
GMAT:  While we don't ask for a minimum score, we recommend that candidates apply with a GMAT score of 650 or above. Our current class has an average GMAT score of around 690. When preparing for your GMAT please bear in mind: 
  • All sections of the GMAT must be taken in order to be considered valid
  • Official online scores must be accessible by our admissions department for your application to be considered complete. For GMAC to release your official scores to Saïd Business School, please give your test centre the following code: Q0G-4B-59
  • GMAT scores are not valid if they are older than five years on the application deadline date
  • Contact GMAC directly to arrange to take the test: www.gmac.com
GRE: We recommend that candidates apply with a GRE verbal score of 160 and a quantitative score of 161.  When preparing for your GRE please bear in mind: 
  • All sections of the GRE must be taken in order to be considered valid
  • Official online scores must be accessible by our admissions department for your application to be considered complete. For ETS to release your official scores to Saïd Business School, please give your test centre the following institution code: 0807
  • GRE scores are not valid if they are older than five years on the application deadline date

  • English test
    Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or International English Language Test Scheme (IELTS) must be taken, and all minimum scores met if: 
    • Your first language is not English OR
    • You are not from a majority English speaking country, as defined by  the UK Visas and Immigration below.*
    *List of majority English speaking countries as defined by the UK Visas and Immigration office:
    Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize,  Canada, Dominica, Grenada, Guyana,  Jamaica, New Zealand, Republic of Ireland,  St Kitts and Nevis, St Lucia, St Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, USA, UK.

    Waivers for the English language test:
    The requirement to provide proof of English language proficiency may be waived at the discretion of the University, in cases where you have:

    Successfully completed a full-time degree-level course of a minimum of nine months, at a recognised institution, where the medium of instruction and assessment was entirely in English.

    Evidence of the above must be provided by either:
    • Uploading to the application form transcripts from your institution, which clearly indicates that the medium of instruction throughout your course was English OR
    • Uploading to the application form an official letter from your institution stating that the medium of instruction throughout your course was English.

    You have completed a degree in a majority English speaking country,* as outlined above, by the Home Office.

    As evidence, we will review the transcripts you upload to the application form.
    Further information about  TOEFL and IELTS
    The institution code for ordering your official TOEFL score sheet from ETS is 0807. There is no department code, this can be left blank.
    If you choose to take the IELTS you need to sit the academic test. If you sit the TOEFL it must be the general test.
    TOEFL and IELTS scores will not be valid if they are more than two years old on the application deadline date of the stage in which you are applying. Exchange programmes/ distance learning/ online courses cannot be considered for the waiver.
    Please note that we reserve the right to request a test of English to be taken at any time.Using the online application form you will need to submit two professional or academic references. Once referee details are input onto the form, your referee will receive an automatic email from the School with details on how to complete the online reference form.
    Mandatory essays
    1. What should Oxford expect from you? (Maximum 500 words)
    2. How do you hope to see your career developing over the next five years? How will the MBA and Oxford assist you in the development of these ambitions? (Maximum 500 words)
    3. Plus your preferred essay from the options below:
    • Sport is pure competition. What does it teach us about companies, individuals, and markets? (Maximum 500 words) OR
    • The business of business is business. Is this true? (Maximum 500 words)
    If you are applying under the 1+1 scheme you also need to submit the following essay:
    1.  Explain why you see this as particularly beneficial for you and how it fits with your careers and personal development aims (Maximum 250 words)
    Re-applicants will need to complete the essays mentioned above and another essay on the topic:
    1. What improvements have you made in your candidacy since you last applied to the Oxford MBA? (Maximum 250 words)
    When reviewing your essays the Admissions Committee will be looking for evidence of the following: Good communication skills, leadership potential, analytical skills, fit within the Oxford MBA community and well-researched post-MBA career plans, among other characteristics
    Please ensure your application is complete upon submission. The admissions committee can only consider a candidate once all supporting documentation has been received. We conduct spot checks on a regular basis to ensure the authenticity of applicants' references, work experience and academic background. We also reserve the right to ask for supporting evidence if necessary.
